What to expect tomorrow and for the next 8 days of school: First of all, you will be able to log on to the Chromebooks tomorrow using your student ID number and password. The 5-digit number on the big manilla envelope label, plus @ocesd.net, is the email. Type that number in the email and hit enter. Next will be password. The password is- stanford. There is a link to a video that shows how to do this on our website. Be logged on and ready to go at 9am Check your phones for texts asking you to join Class Dojo. This is how your teacher will communicate with you on a regular basis. They can also help with password options. The first 8 days will not be academically heavy, it will mostly be getting-to-know you activities, and the entire time online might be around an hour or so. For those of you without wifi access we have a couple options: First, you could drive to school, park, and access our wifi Second, we can do an independent study program Please note: While Gov. Newsom promised “Hot Spots” , apparently only 60, 000 were made available in a state of over 1,000 school districts and over 6 million students. So “Hot Spots” are not available at this time, unless you use your cell phone as a “Hot spot” This is new for all of us so please be patient with yourself, your child, and your teachers. We are all trying to make this work. Also, if you are having login issues, please take a breath, give it a couple minutes, and try again. If it still doesn’t work, communicate with your teacher or the front office.

A special message from Superintendent Holtom. Next Wednesday, July 1, The Oroville City Elementary School District will be sharing publicly our comprehensive plan regarding the reopening of schools in August. I want to reassure parents that we will be offering multiple programs for students and their families, including a traditional 5 day a week program following our regular bell schedule, in addition to an enhanced distance learning program that was similar to the one we had in the spring. I know you have numerous questions and we are working very hard to provide a lot of answers as part of our July 1 press release. Following that July 1 press release we will be surveying families again to help us better prepare for the reopening of schools.

STUDENT SAFETY..... Parents/Guardians, it is very important that you know all kids will be sent to the cafeteria to be supervised before teachers arrive at 8:00. At 8:00, kids will be released from the cafeteria and sent to their yard area (based on grade). Kids won't be given opportunity to sit by their classroom and hang in hallways. It is for their safety.
