Yesterday, August 11th, our amazing team gathered at Studios @ Central to kick off the new school year in style! 💼✨
We had a blast with fun games 🕹️, exciting prizes 🎁, and lots of laughter along the way! 😄🙌
To top it all off, we enjoyed a tasty lunch from some of our favorite local food trucks 🌮🍔 — the perfect end to a perfect day!

Clarification on Middle School Enrollment for the 2025–26 School Year
We know there may have been some confusion about middle school placement for your students, and we'd like to clear things up.
For the upcoming school year, your 6th grader has been automatically enrolled in either Ishi Hills Middle School or The Studios at Central, based on your home address.
This is the standard procedure for all students who attended an Oroville City elementary school.
While you may have filled out a survey last year about your middle school preference, please know that this was only a planning document for the district. It was not an official request for transfer.
What to Do If You Want a Different School
If you would like your child to attend the other middle school, you must fill out an intra-district transfer form, some of you have already completed this process and your school of choice is ready for you. This is the official step needed to enroll your child in a school other than their designated home school.
We have space at both schools and are happy to accommodate your family's preference.

Principal Anglin is no stranger to the Oroville community. She grew up right here, attending Stanford Avenue, Central Middle School, and Oroville High School. With 25 years of experience at OCESD, she has taught at several schools, including Oakdale Heights, Bird Street, Ophir Elementary, and even Wyandotte!
Her deep roots and passion for our community are clear. As she shared, "I love serving my local community and look forward to leading my families and staff at Wyandotte Academy!"

Ready for an incredible school year? 🤩 Oakdale Heights Elementary is getting a major upgrade! 🚀
Our playgrounds are getting a brand-new makeover ✨, with new structures for both our younger and older students. But the excitement doesn't stop there. We're also expanding our programs to give our students more opportunities to learn and grow. 🌱
This year, your child can explore their creativity in visual arts 🎨 and our new monthly Affinity Club for multicultural learning. 🌍 We're also building young leaders through our Girls Leadership group 👑 and Student Council. 🗳️ And for students who love sports, we're launching a new soccer team! ⚽
Of course, we'll still have all our classic events, like the Winter Concert 🎤 and Spring Carnival 🎡, with plans to add a multicultural festival in the spring. 🎉 Plus, our fun after-school program is back! 🤸♂️

We are thrilled to introduce your new principal, Tom Schao! With a long and distinguished career in education, Dr. Schao brings a wealth of experience to our school. He has served as a teacher, assistant principal, and district leader, and is a passionate advocate for student success.
Mr. Schao believes deeply in the power of education, having earned his doctorate through hard work and determination. He is dedicated to helping students discover their own passions, set ambitious learning goals, and develop the persistency and resiliency needed to achieve them.
A lifelong learner himself, Mr. Schao is also a multilingual speaker, with conversational knowledge of Mien, Spanish, Lao, and Thai. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, volunteering, and spending quality time outdoors with his family.
