The "Home of the Cougars" is in expert hands! We are proud to announce Lauren Albert as the official Principal of Ishi Hills Middle School, pending board approval.

Ms. Albert is no stranger to the OCESD family. With over 20 years of teaching experience and 6+ years in administration (including her recent time as Ishi Hills Assistant Principal), she brings a wealth of knowledge and a "students-first" heart to the job.

What’s ahead for Ishi Hills:

Growing Careers: Ms. Albert is passionate about expanding career pathways, particularly in Agriculture for grades 6-8! 🚜

Strong Relationships: From coordinating SARB to leading School Site Councils, she is dedicated to bridging the gap between school and home.

Focus on Excellence: Her leadership will continue to emphasize PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) and data-driven programs to help every student. 📈

From her work with summer school programs to her deep commitment to socio-emotional development, Ms. Albert is perfectly positioned to lead Ishi Hills into its next great chapter. 📖

In the background, there is a paved school walkway, green trees, and school buildings under a clear blue sky.

Headline: A Familiar Face, A Bold Future! 🎨✨

We are thrilled to announce that Patricia Leonard has been appointed as the official Principal of Studios @ Central, pending board approval!

While Ms. Leonard is a familiar and trusted leader—having served as our Assistant Principal since 2023 and Interim Principal since October 2025—we are excited to see her step into this role permanently. As a product of our local Oroville community and a graduate of CSU Chico, Patricia’s heart is right here with our students.

Why we’re excited:

Expertise in Inclusion: With two Master’s degrees and an extensive background in Special Education administration, she ensures every student has the tools to succeed.

Instructional Leader: Her experience as an adjunct faculty member means she knows exactly how to mentor staff to provide top-tier education.

Deep Roots: Growing up in Oroville, she understands our families and our unique "Studios" spirit.

When she isn't leading our campus, you might find Patricia lost in a good book or dreaming of her next trip to Paris!📚

Please join us in the comments by giving a huge "CONGRATULATIONS" to Ms. Leonard! 🥳👏

🌟 A Night of Leadership and Dedication! 🌟
Wednesday’s Board Meeting was a true celebration of the incredible people who make OCESD shine!

First, a massive shout-out to the four amazing students from Oakdale Heights Elementary! These young leaders did a fantastic job leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance. It is always a highlight of our meetings to see our students stepping up with such confidence and pride. Well done, Oakdale Eagles👏

💐 Special Recognition: Aimee Hubbard
We also took a moment to express our deepest gratitude to Aimee Hubbard, Principal at Ophir Elementary.

Aimee was officially acknowledged for her monumental efforts in leading our district through the FPM (Federal Program Monitoring) audit. We know that successful audits don't just "happen"—they are the result of countless hours, meticulous attention to detail, and unwavering dedication.

Principal Hubbard, thank you for your leadership and for everything you do to keep our district moving forward. We are so incredibly grateful to have you on our team! 🏆✨

✨ Spotlight on Talent: Davia Gaona ✨
Our hearts are still full after Wednesday night’s Board Meeting! We had the absolute pleasure of being serenaded by the incredibly talented Davia Gaona, a student at Studios At Central, OCESD's Visual & Performing Arts School. 🎤

As the reigning winner of the Studios @ Central Singing Competition, Davia took to the floor and performed a breathtaking a cappella set for the Board and the public. It takes immense courage and poise to sing without any accompaniment, and Davia’s powerful voice filled the room and left us all inspired.

At Oroville City Elementary School District, we are so proud to celebrate our VAPA (Visual and Performing Arts) programs and the stars they produce. Thank you, Davia, for sharing your gift with us and reminding us why the arts are so vital to our schools!

🌷 Spring has Sprung at Ophir Elementary! 🐥

Our Kindergarteners had the most "egg-citing" day celebrating the first day of Spring with our annual Spring Fling! ☀️

The playground was transformed into a sea of color and joy as our little Hornets soaked up the sunshine. From creating chalk masterpieces on the blacktop to chasing giant bubbles through the air, it was the perfect way to welcome the new season.

The highlight of the day? Some very special feathered guests! Our students got up close and personal for some cuddles with adorable baby ducks. 🦆💛

Check out these smiles! It’s safe to say the "Spring Fling" was a soaring success.

🐣 Big News from Room Three! 🐣
Our 1st graders in Ms. Odekirk’s class at Ophir Elementary have had some very special guests lately! For over three weeks, these student scientists carefully looked after eggs in their incubator, tracking their development every step of the way.

The wait finally ended on March 15th when our new feathered friends officially hatched! 🐣✨

The chicks are currently happy, healthy, and staying cozy under their warming light in Room Three. They’ll be sticking around for plenty of chirps and cuddles before heading off to their forever homes next week. 🏠💛

Way to go, 1st grade, for being such wonderful caretakers!
